Dum Association was initiated in 1999 by artists Mateja Bucar and Vadim Fishkin producing contemporary dance, visual art media projects and set a more interdisciplinary way of creating in art. In 2003, the Gregor Podnar Gallery was founded under the frame of the DUM, and operated in Ljubljana until 2014, and since then in Berlin, Vienna. The Association continued to operate as a project space in its premises in central Ljubljana, on Kolodvorska 6. DUM project space continues to be committed to presenting, supporting, and reflecting on various fields of contemporary art, from performing arts, visual art practices, contemporary dance, to art theory and critique. DUM project space is dedicated to practices deeply rooted in the tradition of conceptualism, as well as artistic research keen on transcending boundaries of genres and fields. Its program in performing arts is very much focusing on contemporary dance, regularly presenting choreografhers like Mateja Bučar, Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik and recently also Jurij Konjar and Kaja Lorenci from young generation. Its programme has been championed also by prominent local curators Tevž Logar (from 2014) and Vladimir Vidmar (from 2019). DUM’s performance art works is cintinuing to interconnected often with visual art in its unique and distinct way working with local and international artists, including Mladen Stropnik, Ištvan Išt Huzjan, Goran Trbuljak, Inaki Bonilas, Ulay, Andrea Knezović, Anže Sever, Ed Ruscha, Claudia Joskowicz, Honza Zamojski, Nika Span, Vadim Fishkin, Edith Dekyndt and many others.
